My son and I have been on a long quest to find great two-player split-screen games for what feels like forever. These days, sites like Poki and other browser game platforms are packed with fast-paced little games that are perfect for killing a few minutes of boredom between other stuff but we felt that they could have so much more in them.

We got so into them that three weeks ago, we decided: why not just make one ourselves? A game that’s as simple as possible—something anyone can jump into within seconds. The kind of game that brings back those classic PC vibes, where you’d rage at your friends so hard you'd stop talking to each other for the rest of the day.

What Is Cat Dog Wars?

Cat Dog Wars is a fast, competitive, browser-based 2 player game designed to be played on the same device. Players control cat and dog that bounce around like billiard balls in a backyard arena duel.

Each player has a rotating target indicator orbiting around it. Pressing the fire button shoots a projectile in that direction—and the recoil changes your player’s trajectory. Mastering the timing of movement and aim becomes the core of the game’s strategy.

The core loop is simple:

• Bounce, shoot, and reposition with every shot.
• Outmaneuver your opponent in chaotic duels.
• Only certain traps (like spikes) deal damage—walls and other collisions are just part of the dance.
